Pecos

In 1923, the Red Wing Shoe Company established a branch office in Dallas, Texas, to capitalize on the expanding Southwest trade. The region, known for its vast ranches, plantations, and refineries dating back to the Wild West era, had a unique culture where cowboy boots, originally coming from Spanish riding boots, became a market staple. To penetrate the Texas and Southwest boot market, Red Wing began producing the iconic cowboy boots in the late 1930s. By 1959, the company had refined the cowboy boot style, introducing the "Pecos" boot, named after a town in Texas. They trademarked the Pecos and expanded its variations. The Pecos boot quickly became a favorite among ranchers and farmers nationwide, extending its appeal far beyond Texas and the Southwest.
